We have over 400 dedicated employees working from 21 centres across metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria.

About the role

Reporting to the Senior Manager, this role supports Open Place in assisting Forgotten Australians people who grew up in institutional care by helping them access personal and family records, providing supported release of information with compassion and trauma-informed practice, conducting family searches and reunions, facilitating social support groups, liaising with care providers and government agencies to improve records access, maintaining accurate systems and reporting, and working collaboratively with the team to ensure quality service delivery and accountability outcomes-focused manner.

This role is located at Bromham Place and is a casual position working initially up to 2 dyas per week. The hourly rate inclusive of casual loading is $64-$68 per hour + superannuation.

About you

  • Degree in or relevant experience in social work, community development or social science, with strong skills in facilitating access to records, genealogy or family searches.
  • Excellent communication, administrative and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, work under pressure and maintain attention to detail while practicing self-care.
  • Proven ability to build collaborative relationships with record holders, government agencies and diverse client groups, with a sound understanding of privacy, equity and diversity principles.
