We work closely with industry partners and government bodies to translate discoveries into real-word impact. This role will specifically be working within the School of Education
About the role:
The Education-focused Academic will lead unit teaching teams in UG and/or PG initial teacher education programs to meet industry standards and continuously improve the student learning experience and outcomes. The position will play an important role in meeting the new core curriculum for initial teacher education in relation to the brain and learning. As such, the position will initiate, design and conduct productive, high-quality, teaching and scholarship in the field that will enhance student experience and achievement of graduate learning outcomes
This position is suited to a person with an excellent record and passion for scholarly learning and teaching and a keen interest in exploring and building on new areas of education development and contribution to community engagement through teaching and employability.
As a Lecturer in Education (Brain and Learning), Education-focused, you will:
Lead unit teaching teams and work collaboratively with other unit teaching teams in the course to develop effective unit curricula and learning resources (including through unit leadership roles). Contribute to the review of units and courses and implement refinements.
Assist in applying industry, clinical and/or research practice into student learning experiences, success, engagement and resources.
Adopt innovation in curriculum design at the unit level and deliver learner-centric, research-informed teaching practices across different levels / modes of delivery. Maintain deep discipline knowledge which is applied to inform unit design.
Design collaborative learning opportunities at the unit level. Support diverse learners by designing accessible and inclusive unit material and practices.
Develop effective assessment tasks and rubrics at unit level. Provide clear assessment criteria and timely feedback to learners to demonstrate learning outcomes. Monitor and adapt assessment practices to improve learning outcomes.
To be successful, you'll have:
PhD in a relevant discipline and/or other relevant qualifications and experience
Excellent record of scholarly learning and teaching in UG and/or PG programs, including innovative curriculum design
Excellent knowledge of initial teacher education and the professional standards that inform programs, including the core curriculum.
Demonstrated passion for teaching and learning.
Ability to deliver effective teaching practices to improve student success and engagement.
Emerging reputation in research and scholarship through publications and/or exhibitions and/or success in obtaining external research/project funding.
Ability to contribute to communities through research.
Capacity to contribute to leadership of research and administration.
Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues.
Demonstrated passion for teaching and learning.
Ability to deliver effective teaching practices to improve student success and engagement.
