Environmental Health Officer

Sydney, New South Wales, Australia Osborne Richardson Australia Full time $80,000 - $120,000 per year

Osborne Richardson are the only recruitment agency which specialises in Environmental Health in Australia. We have assisted candidates to thrive in their EHO careers for over a decade now and are the go-to for anyone who is seeking to either make a start as an EHO or keep moving forward with their existing career.

Today, we have been asked to assist Blacktown City Council to bring them an Environmental Health Officer to join there existing team until the end of 2025 initially. A glorious kicker with this opportunity is that the role, although contract to start off with, has a view to keeping you in the team long-term before transitioning to a permanent appointment. This, of course, will be reliant on you making yourself indispensable, once we snag you the opportunity.

The amazing thing about this team is both the leaders and the culture within it. Both are as good as you will find in Australia. Easy to work with, supportive and ready to get the most out of you whether you have existing Environmental Health experience or need a helping hand to upskills and gain your EH confidence.

This particular role will see jump straight into the standard EHO duties, below. Obviously, your point of entry will be dependant on your existing level of experience as an EHO.

  • Inspection of Food Premises, Skin Penetration Premises (tattooists, beauty, etc), Cooling Towers, Domestic Wastewater Disposal Systems.
  • Investigation of complaints relating to potential environmental nuisance (dust, noise, odour, etc)
  • Investigation of complaints relating to potential public health risks (asbestos, mosquito breeding, etc)
  • Education of the community and businesses in public and environmental health matters

We would love to hear from all qualified EHOs however, we are also more than happy to have a chat if you hold a true passion for the environment and wider public health demographics. Being an EHO is a wonderful career and we love to assist candidates live in those shoes but we can only do so when they hold a passion in doing so.

If you would like to have a chat, please feel free to contact Owen Millar on or

Always happy to chat.
