Assistant Housekeeping Manager at Hyatt House South Melbourne

An exciting opportunity exists for an Assistant Housekeeping Manager to join our leadership team at Hyatt House South Melbourne. As the hotel moves into the second half of its first year of operations, this role is a key position overseeing the smooth and efficient running of the Housekeeping Department.

Reporting directly to the Rooms Manager, you will take charge of the daily housekeeping function, ensuring our guest rooms and public spaces reflect the high standards of comfort, cleanliness, and care that define the Hyatt House experience.

This position is suited to a hands-on leader who thrives in a dynamic environment and takes ownership of systems, people, and performance.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of the Housekeeping Department, including rosters, stock control, budgeting, and purchasing
  • Lead, train, and motivate a team of Room Attendants, Housepersons, and public area staff
  • Ensure rooms and public spaces consistently meet Hyatt brand and hygiene standards
  • Oversee linen operations, amenities, and supplier relationships
  • Prepare and manage departmental budgets, forecasts, and payroll reports
  • Implement and monitor efficient cleaning procedures and schedules
  • Maintain strong working relationships with all departments to support seamless guest experiences
  • Ensure compliance with workplace health, safety, and environmental policies
  • Champion a culture of care, teamwork, and accountability across the department

Your Background

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a senior housekeeping or assistant management role in a full-service or upscale hotel
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with a focus on performance and development
  • Experience managing budgets, ordering, and cost controls
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards
  • A proactive, organized, and solutions-focused approach
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility to work on a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays
