Trainee 3D Modeller & Steel Detailer

Crisp Bros. & Haywards is Tasmania's leading steel fabrication, construction and engineering company undertaking a wide and varied range of work from architectural, structural steelwork, bridges, conveyor systems, ship loaders, pipework, ducting and barges in Tasmania and interstate. We are currently seeking a trainee draftsperson to join our team in our Kings Meadows office. Our draftsperson/project management tasks include 3D modelling and detailing of steel structures, consultation with designers and clients, liaising with workshop and erection personnel. They have direct contact with projects from the detailing phase through to fabrication and erection, providing much more than traditional offices. We use the latest in 3D software, Tekla Structures and have our own in house 3D laser scanner and RealWorks software.

The applicants should ideally possess:

• Excellent written and spoken communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to learn rapidly
• Good understanding of computer systems and basic programs
• Familiarity with steel construction industry would be viewed favourably
• Experience in 3D modelling would be an advantage but not a necessity

Dependent on prior education and software experience, training will be provided on site with the possibility of further external study when required.
