Senior Cook

About the Role

Good Cartel is looking for a skilled Senior Cook / Section Chef to join our busy kitchen.

This role is anchored in cooking— preparing and producing recipes in volume using commercial kitchen equipment.

Mise en place is the next priority, with scope to supervise a junior as the menu scales, ensuring your focus stays on cooking. You'll also provide short-order support during peak service.

Key Responsibilities

• Cooking core recipes in volume.
• Completing and overseeing mise en place to keep the kitchen service-ready.
• Providing short-order cooking support during peak service.
• Maintaining food safety, consistency, and cleanliness standards.
• Food safety certification must be obtained within 90 days of commencement.
• Supporting teamwork and efficiency in a high-volume kitchen.

What We're Looking For

• Solid experience as a cook in a café or restaurant environment.
• Minimum 2-3 years of cooking experience is required.
• Strong cooking skills with the ability to manage batch production.
• Organised approach to mise en place, with capacity to supervise junior staff as required.
• Adaptable, team-focused, and calm under pressure.
• Current Australian work authorisation is required to apply.
