Design Drafter – Industrial Design (SolidWorks)

Location: Lonsdale, South Australia

Spark furniture is seeking the skills of an accomplished CAD professional for Industrial Design Drafting work. A minimum of 3 years' industry experience with Solidworks is required.

A background designing for sheet metal / steel fabrication would be advantageous.

Spark Furniture are a leading Australian Manufacturer of public realm furniture located in Lonsdale South Australia. This position will be an in-house role within our Lonsdale facility.

The position primarily includes generating models, approval drawings, and 2D production drawings as well as file exporting and technical documentation creation. Working closely with the design team, production and manufacturing teams, and the sales team, forms a large part of the role.

Spark's designers work on a variety of custom projects for Landscape Architects and Builders, realising their concepts for manufacture. Occasional development work on our own in-house collections of products is also undertaken, including the opportunity to realise new designs from time to time.

The Design Drafter position reports directly to the Design Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create detailed 3D models, approval drawings, and production-ready 2D documentation
  • Export files and generate technical documentation for manufacturing
  • Collaborate closely with the design, production, manufacturing, and sales teams
  • Occasionally take part in the design and realisation of new and bespoke products
Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years' professional experience using SolidWorks
  • Solid understanding of industrial design drafting practices
  • Experience with sheet metal design is highly desirable
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
