Child and Family Counsellor

ChatAbout is a family-centred allied health practice that has 5 well established clinics across Sydney. We have been providing services since 2005 and built a strong reputation for clinical care within the communities we serve.

Our team of Speech Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, and Allied Health Assistants provide high-quality services to children of all ages to support their daily living skills and ability to participate in community activities.

We are looking for a fully qualified Child and Family Counsellor to join our team either part time or full time to contribute to the well-being of our clients by:

• Providing high quality person-centred assessment and counselling services to children, adults, couples, and families. Key focus areas include parenting, behavioural support, and relationships.

• Working independently as well as part of an allied health team to provide holistic capacity building supports to children with complex needs.

• Working with parents to build the skills, resilience and capability to manage behavioural difficulties and meet their child's developmental, educational, and well-being needs.

• Developing and implementing therapeutic interventions in collaboration with families using evidenced based approaches.

• Ongoing communication and education with parents throughout counselling journey to ensure children continue to be supported.

• Promoting social inclusion/participation by providing families with knowledge about supports available within their communities.

• Provision of timely and appropriate referrals for children and their families as required.

Essential criteria:

• Relevant tertiary qualifications (e.g. Psychology, Counselling or equivalent)

• Eligibility for membership/credentialing with relevant professional/registration body

• Demonstrated experience and knowledge in therapeutic and counselling skills, case management, family therapy and parenting skills that is applicable to children, young people and their families

• Ability to work both independently and within a team

• Full Australian work rights

• Eligibility for a Medicare Provider Number

• Hold a current WWCC and Police Record Check
