EL2 Director, Data Office

The Data Office is critical to the success of the agency through provision of a strong, central data governance function that works to –
  • Ensure continual improvement in the Agency's data management and data governance processes.
  • Develop and disseminate data management standards for data analyst teams throughout the Agency.
  • Uplift the quality and accuracy of data throughout the Agency.
  • Ensure data sharing agreements with States and Territory government departments include appropriate data management considerations.
  • Uplift data literacy across the Agency.
The ongoing uplift in the agency's technological data platform and the introduction of a fit-for-purpose data governance tool requires an increase in Data Office capability to adequately coordinate the Agency's data management and data governance programs.

Citizenship:
As part of the eligibility and suitability requirement, the agency seeks Labour Hire Workers who are Australian citizens only. Successful candidates will be required to furnish valid evidence of citizenship during the Pre-engagement Check.

Key duties and responsibilities
  • Maintaining the agency's data governance framework and monitoring its efficiency in terms of the interaction between data management policy, process and people.
  • Creating and updating the Operational Data Management Policies that are endorsed by the Data Management Committee (DMC) and owned by the DMC Chair.
  • Administrating the Agency's monthly DMC meeting including setting the agenda to ensure that compliance with Operational Data Management Policies is monitored.
  • Directing the agency's Data Quality governance program which includes the Data Office chairing the Agency's Data Quality Working Group and maintaining the Data Quality Index.
  • Informing the data components of multiple Data Sharing Agreement schedules with State and Territory government departments.
  • Developing data literacy training material for different levels of data knowledge.
  • Leading a large team of Executive Level staff and functions.
  • Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
About the team
The Analytics, Data & Actuarial Division (ADA), led by the Scheme Actuary, provides information and advice on Scheme monitoring, financial sustainability and risks. The Division is comprised of three branches, Actuarial Insights and Monitoring, Data and Analytics and Scheme Effectiveness and Forecasting The Data and Insurance Branch supports the Agency by providing high quality data and reporting and translating insights into measurable business performance improvements.

It focuses on delivering data and reporting while building data literacy capability across the branch and regions. The team develops, governs, and maintains an enterprise data warehouse and manages the Agency's reporting platforms and production content. It designs and builds Business Intelligence (BI) interventions and prototype analytic solutions and reports, identifying trends and drivers of performance.

Criteria
  • Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with key internal stakeholders, covering strategy, policy, legal, external relations as well as internal service and support teams.
  • Working alongside peers to capture interdependencies and sequencing risks across the data project portfolio.
