What's the role?
An exciting opportunity is available for Quality Engineering Lead – Test Automation, to join the Technology, Chief Transformation Office. The purpose of the role is to Lead quality engineering practices across Westpac's Retail Banking Technology portfolio, driving automation, DevOps integration, and engineering excellence to achieve the bank's high test automation target.
This role is responsible for defining and implementing quality strategies that align with Westpac's transformation agenda. Build scalable automation frameworks, integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines, and foster a culture of shift-left quality.
What do I need?
- Hands-on experience leading quality engineering initiatives in large-scale enterprise environments.
 - Strong expertise in test automation tools (e.g., Playwright, RestAssured, Selenium or Cypress) and frameworks.
 - Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices using tools such as Azure DevOps and Jenkins.
 - Knowledge of microservices architecture, APIs, and cloud-native platforms.
 - Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence across squads.
 - Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills for complex testing challenges.
 - Familiarity with performance engineering, security testing, and resilience validation is highly desirable.
