We are seeking an

experienced
Accounting Specialist

to join our Finance team. This pivotal role combines management accounting (budgets, forecasts, financial analysis) with core financial accounting responsibilities including month-end processes, reconciliations, and compliance. You'll ensure all deliverables are precise, reliable, and on time.

This position is Full-time or Part-time depending on the person, it's located in our Head Office in Taringa and reports directly to the CFO.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly management accounts, variance analysis, and comprehensive financial reports to support business decisions.
  • Maintain rolling budgets, forecasts, and cashflow models, delivering timely ad-hoc reports and reconciliations.
  • Analyse occupancy, WRA%, revenue, and expense trends to provide actionable insights.
  • Present management dashboards and KPIs in Fathom, supporting scenario modelling, acquisition analysis, and due diligence.
  • Prepare accurate month-end accounts including journals, accruals, adjustments, and reconciliations across multiple entities using Xero, Hubdoc, and Budgetly.
  • When required assist with BAS, payroll tax, and compliance obligations, ensuring strict adherence to accounting standards.
  • Support end-to-end payroll processing, including superannuation and leave liability monitoring.
  • Collaborate with finance team members to streamline processes and improve operational efficiency.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration and provide support across all teams to strengthen financial understanding and drive continuous reporting improvements

Skills & Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce (preferred but not essential).
  • Minimum 5 years' hands-on experience in bookkeeping/accounting, including management reporting, forecasting, and budgeting.
  • Proficient in Xero, Hubdoc, Excel/Google Sheets; experience with Employment Hero, Budgetly, and Fathom is a plus.
  • Solid knowledge of Australian accounting standards and compliance.
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent time management, and proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience in childcare/service industries is advantageous but not essential.

  • Manage the financial accounting and bookkeeping requirements of centres, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely reporting.
  • Achieve key targets including 100% on-time monthly reporting, forecast accuracy within ±5%, timely budget & cashflow updates.
