About Us

Hilltribe Architects is a boutique architectural studio located in beautiful Laurieton on the NSW Mid North Coast. We specialise in residential design, delivering thoughtful, context-driven architecture that balances creativity and functionality.

We pride ourselves on high-quality client service and a supportive, collaborative work culture. We're currently seeking a passionate Graduate of Architecture to join our close-knit team and contribute meaningfully to bespoke residential projects.

Our studio is located in Laurieton — a relaxed coastal town with easy access to beaches and national parks — ideal for someone seeking a sea change or a balanced lifestyle away from the city.

The Role

This is a hands-on role where you'll work across all project phases—from concept design to documentation and client engagement. You'll collaborate closely with the principal architect and take ownership of your work in a flexible and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to concept design development
  • Model and document projects using ArchiCAD
  • Execute amendments to documentation as required
  • Support projects across Concept / DA / CC / CDC stages
  • Ensure compliance with State & Local Planning Controls, the NCC, and Australian Standards
  • Liaise with consultants, council staff, builders, and clients
  • Attend site visits, inspections, and project meetings
  • Prepare and submit DA Applications, including Statements of Environmental Effects and Waste Management Plans
  • Coordinate with subconsultants (bushfire, stormwater, structural, civil, surveyors, arborists)
  • Conduct site inspections and measure existing buildings
  • Communicate clearly in verbal, written, and graphical formats
  • Respond promptly to project needs and deadlines
  • Use MS Office and Adobe software efficiently

About You

  • Graduate of Architecture
  • Proficient in ArchiCAD
  • Strong design sensibility and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Comfortable working in a small team
  • Highly organised and self-motivated
  • Able to manage time and tasks independently
  • Residential experience (preferred but not essential)

Location & Flexibility

  • Based in Laurieton, NSW
  • Open to full-time or part-time permanent arrangements
  • Salary range: $65,000 – $75,000 per year, depending on experience.

Please note: This is an in-studio role based in Laurieton. Remote work is not available, so the position is best suited to someone already living locally or willing to relocate to the Mid North Coast.

What We Offer

  • A friendly, supportive studio environment
  • Flexibility to support your lifestyle and career development
  • Opportunities for growth within a design-led practice
  • Meaningful contribution to bespoke residential projects
