Job Description
About the Role
NCS Australia is seeking a dynamic and experienced Digital Solutions Lead to join our team in Canberra. This strategic role is pivotal to our growth, focusing on driving pre-sales success and fostering a world-class, Canberra-based team of technology experts.
Working closely with our Head of Practices Australia and the associated practice directors, you will be a key leader responsible for driving technical excellence and growth across our federal and commercial client base.
You will guide and nurture our core technical practices, including Digital Applications, Quality & Testing, and Data & AI. Your mission will be to combine deep technical credibility with inspiring people leadership to shape client solutions, win new business, and build a high-performing, engaged team.
What You'll Do
As the Digital Solutions Lead, you will be at the forefront of our client engagement and team development. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Pre-Sales & Solution Leadership: Act as the senior technical authority in pre-sales engagements, collaborating with sales and account teams to design compelling and commercially viable solutions for our clients. You'll lead bid responses, client presentations, and workshops.
- People & Practice Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse, Canberra-based team of practice leads and technical consultants. You will be responsible for their performance, career development, and overall well-being. Foster a collaborative and inclusive culture that encourages innovation.
- National Alignment & Collaboration: Work closely with National Practice Leads to ensure national strategy, standards, and methodologies are successfully implemented within the Canberra team, while also providing local insights to shape our national go-to-market approach.
- Capability Development: Define the strategic direction for your practice areas locally. Ensure our offerings remain at the cutting edge by identifying emerging technologies, contributing to our service catalogues, and building essential skills within the team.
- Strategic Growth: Drive the growth of your practices by contributing to the go-to-market strategy, identifying new opportunities, and building strong relationships with clients and technology partners.
- Workforce enhancement: Oversee workforce planning, utilisation, and recruitment to ensure we have the right people with the right skills to deliver on our project pipeline and strategic goals.
Qualifications
We are looking for a leader who is passionate about technology, people, and solving complex client challenges.
- Previous experience working for an SI or technology services company supporting government clients
- Proven Leadership Experience: Demonstrated experience in a senior leadership role, managing and developing high-performing technical teams within a professional services, systems integrator, or consulting environment.
- Pre-Sales Expertise: A strong track record of success in a pre-sales or solution architecture capacity, with experience leading complex, multi-million dollar bids and proposals.
- Broad Technical Credibility: While you don't need to be a hands-on expert in all areas, you must have a strong understanding and strategic view across at least two of the following:
- Digital Applications (e.g., custom development, cloud-native apps, microservices, CX/UX, digital platforms)
- QA & Testing (e.g., test automation, performance engineering, modern QA practices)
- Data & AI (e.g., data platforms, analytics, machine learning, AI solutions)
- Exceptional Communication & Collaboration Skills: The ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders and collaborate effectively across business units.
- Based in Canberra: You must be based in Canberra or willing to relocate.
