Sydney, New South Wales, Australia Fifth Estate Asset Management Full time $80,000 - $120,000 per year

Fifth Estate Asset Management is an alternative investment manager specialising in providing capital to high-growth businesses across both unlisted and listed markets.

We are a performance-driven, independently owned firm — our principals and staff are also significant investors in our own funds, ensuring full alignment with our clients' objectives.

You'll join a highly regarded, tight-knit team that values initiative, precision, and accountability. This is an opportunity to work in a dynamic buy-side environment where your contribution directly supports investment performance and investor outcomes.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced middle office professional to take ownership of core operational processes across our funds. This role is central to ensuring the smooth and accurate running of daily fund operations — including unit pricing, settlements, reconciliations, and reporting.

Working closely with the investment team, you will provide oversight across multiple funds, ensuring the highest standards of accuracy, control, and timeliness.

This role is ideal for someone with a background in fund accounting or operations who wants to broaden their exposure to alternative assets and a high-performing investment culture.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Oversee daily, monthly, and quarterly unit pricing, valuations, and fund NAV processes across multiple investment vehicles.
  • Manage and review trade settlements, cash movements, and position reconciliations between internal systems, custodians, and administrators.
  • Supervise fund capital flows including applications, redemptions, distributions, and corporate actions.
  • Coordinate fund and client onboarding, fund terminations, and other lifecycle events.
  • Liaise closely with investment and compliance teams to ensure operational accuracy and governance.
  • Maintain oversight of third-party fund administrators, custodians, and counterparties.
  • Prepare and review fund performance, investor, and regulatory reporting.
  • Contribute to projects such as new product launches, system enhancements, and operational reviews.

Qualifications

You are detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. You take pride in accuracy and ownership and enjoy working as part of a collaborative and motivated team.

  • +5 years experience in fund operations, middle office, or fund accounting, ideally within a buy-side or asset management environment.
  • Strong understanding of unit pricing, trade settlements, reconciliations, and fund performance reporting.
  • Experience managing or overseeing third-party administrators or custodians.
  • Exposure to both listed and unlisted investment instruments, including equities and alternative assets.
  • Proficiency in fund accounting or portfolio management systems - particularly EZE would be an advantage.
  • Tertiary qualification in finance, accounting, or economics preferred but not mandatory.
  • High attention to detail, sound judgement, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Why Join Fifth Estate

  • Work directly with senior investment professionals in a boutique, high-performance culture.
  • Exposure to a diverse range of investment strategies across listed and unlisted markets.
  • Genuine ownership and accountability in a flat, collaborative structure.
