About The Victoria Clinic
Located in Prahran, The Victoria Clinic is a 115-bed private mental health facility with a strong reputation for delivering compassionate, evidence-based care across general adult psychiatry, mood disorders, addiction, and trauma-related presentations.
Part of the Healthscope network, the clinic has undergone recent redevelopment and continues to grow its multidisciplinary services to meet community needs. The nursing team, collaborative culture, and strong medical partnerships create a platform for impactful leadership and innovation in mental health care.
About the Role
The Director of Nursing will provide strategic and operational leadership for all nursing and allied health services across The Victoria Clinic. This is a key role focused on ensuring the highest standards of clinical quality, workforce performance, and regulatory compliance. Working closely with the General Manager, you will lead the development and implementation of safety and quality systems in line with the NSQHS standards, while managing operational metrics such as workforce hours per patient day (WHPPD), turnover, sick leave, agency utilisation, and consumable costs.
You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a high-performing and psychologically safe culture, championing professional development, and building a learning environment through structured education programs. A key aspect of the role includes strengthening collaborative relationships with Visiting Medical Officers (VMOs), universities, and external partners to support service development and workforce sustainability. This position requires a hands-on and strategic leader with the ability to manage complexity, deliver results, and ensure that the clinic continues to provide safe, person-centred, and evidence-based care.
About You
You are an experienced senior nurse leader with a deep commitment to mental health care and a strong record of operational leadership. You bring composure, clarity, and purpose to complex environments and are recognised for your ability to inspire teams, optimise systems, and deliver sustained outcomes.
You also bring:
- Registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse (no restrictions)
- Bachelor of Science (Nursing) or equivalent (mandatory)
- Experience managing clinical teams in mental health or related hospital settings
- Expertise in NSQHS, clinical governance, and accreditation processes
- Strong financial literacy and experience with workforce metrics and budgeting
- Postgraduate qualifications in Nursing, Health Management, or Business (desirable)
- Experience with quality improvement, change leadership, and stakeholder engagement
