About the Role

As the Street Cleansing Labourer / Truck Driver – Field Staff, you will:

  • Carry out street cleansing and waste removal duties using both mechanical equipment and manual methods across the Willoughby Council area.
  • Operate trucks, sweepers, and other plant equipment to maintain clean roads, footpaths, parks, and public spaces.
  • Empty and maintain litter bins, remove debris, posters, and graffiti, and ensure Council assets are kept in a presentable condition.
  • Work collaboratively with your team, residents, and local businesses to deliver high-quality, customer-focused services.
  • Prioritise safety and efficiency in all tasks while contributing to a clean, sustainable, and attractive city environment.

What You'll Bring

  • Holds a current MR Driver's Licence and can safely operate Council vehicles and equipment.
  • Ability to perform manual street cleansing, labouring, and operational duties throughout the day.
  • Has experience or a strong aptitude in cleansing or waste services, demonstrating the ability to work efficiently and maintain high standards of cleanliness.
  • Works well both independently and as part of a team, taking initiative while collaborating effectively with colleagues.
  • Communicates confidently and provides excellent customer service, engaging positively with members of the public, local businesses, and colleagues.

Desirable:

  • Have experience in Local Government or a similar environment, understanding community expectations and council operations.
  • Hold additional heavy plant licences or have experience operating street sweepers, scrubbers, or vacuum cleansing units, allowing you to contribute across a range of equipment and tasks.
