Road Safety Project Officer
Part Time - 0.8 FTE (30.4 hours per week)
Total Package $111,607.71 per annum, pro-rata (inclusive of superannuation)
(Breakdown of remuneration - Base $99, % Super $11,957.97)
• Sector leading 6 weeks' annual leave per annum pro-rata
• Meaningful work that supports Local Governments
• Turn evidence into practical tools that help Local Governments improve road safety across WA.
Are you curious, analytical, and motivated by the idea of turning information into practical tools that help Local Governments proactively improve road safety?
If you enjoy exploring evidence, making sense of patterns, and transforming insights into useful resources, this purpose driven role may be your next career step. You'll influence how road safety is understood and delivered across Western Australian Local Governments, and you'll also play a key role in the project administration and reporting that keeps our initiatives running smoothly.
WALGA is seeking a Road Safety Project Officer to manage projects that develop and curate a suite of road safety products including guides, tools, templates, training materials, and more, tailored to help Local Governments strengthen safety on their local roads and path networks.
Why this role matters
Local Governments manage the majority of WA's road and path network, and they rely on accessible, evidence based tools to put road safety strategies into practice.
That's where you come in.
While our Road Safety Advisors work directly with RoadWise Councils, our Project Officers are key players in leading analysis, design and product delivery behind the scenes, applying health promotion principles to translate best practice and emerging research, data and safe system principles into clear, usable tools and resources that support RoadWise Councils to build safer environments.
Together, both roles form a collaborative team that supports Local Governments to create safer roads across WA.
In this role, you will:
- Curate credible resources, case studies and evidence for Local Governments and RoadWise Councils.
- Regularly conduct desktop research to stay abreast of contemporary safe system approaches.
- Develop draft budgets for product development and delivery and raise purchase orders and monitor/report on expenditure against project budgets.
- Prepare and submit quarterly project reports, and contribute to quarterly, annual and ad hoc reporting on RoadWise program development and delivery.
- Maintain systems and processes for quality control, branding compliance, and periodic product reviews to keep materials current and relevant.
- Coordinate pilot testing, feedback, and improvements with internal and external stakeholders.
Ultimately, we're looking for someone who is process driven, innovative and has a focus on continuous improvement. Someone who enjoys blending research, creativity, and project coordination.
You bring strong written communication skills, find joy in turning complex information into practical tools, and are confident managing multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
What is RoadWise?
WALGA's RoadWise program is funded by the Western Australian Government to engage and support Local Governments to contribute to national and state road safety objectives.
RoadWise engages RoadWise Councils in strategic and sustainable initiatives towards embedding systems-based approaches to road safety. This happens through activities designed to build the capacity and capability of Local Governments by:
• Providing direct assistance and support to RoadWise Councils,
• Sharing information and facilitating the transfer of knowledge,
• Inspiring and motiving best practice, and
• Developing sector policy and advocating on behalf of Local Governments and their communities.
