About the Role

Join our team as a Nurse Manager - Community Residential Withdrawal Unit (CRWU), to work within The Monash Health Drug & Alcohol Service (MHDAS), part of the Mental Health Program.

This position is a permanent full-time position, working Monday to Friday 8.00am to 4.30pm, based at Cleeland Street Dandenong. You will also be required to travel between Monash Health Sites.

The incumbent will provide senior clinical and operational leadership, mentoring and role modelling to the Community Residential Withdrawal Unit (CRWU) with a focus on contributing to the development of robust evidence-based models and systems of care, research and evaluation programs, monitoring outcome measures and clinical KPIs.

The Nurse Manager and Consultant Psychiatrist positions are responsible for the general clinical governance of the unit, whilst the Unit Head and the Director Clinical Operations will provide overall clinical and operational governance to Community Residential Withdrawal Unit in partnership. As such, the Nurse Manager is accountable to these lead positions, in their respective areas of clinical or operational activities.

Employing multidisciplinary clinicians across these wide ranging services including Peer Workers with lived experience, the service employs approximately 75 EFT staff and budget of approximately $7 million. We provide a wide range of services including:

• Community Residential Withdrawal
• Primary Health Clinic
• Needle Syringe Program – fixed site, outreach and syringe dispensing machines
• Mobile Overdose Response & Mobile Drug Safety
• Proactive Overdose Response Initiative & Naloxone Subsidy
• Aboriginal Metropolitan 'Ice' Partnership
• Youth Supported Accommodation and Youth Outreach
• Peer Led Network trials and
• Assessment, Counselling and Non-residential withdrawal

About You

The successful candidate will have a sound knowledge of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022 and other acts/legislation relevant to working with adults in a mental health and/or mental health setting. They will demonstrate effective stakeholder engagement skills with an AOD setting with high level of interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

Mandatory requirements of the Role

• Registered with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia via AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency)
• Required a Post Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing – or completion of a specialist undergraduate psychiatric nursing program or specialist post basic course of training which led to registration as a Division 3 nurse.
• Has a minimum of 5 years full time equivalent mental health post graduate qualification experience in mental health nursing.
• Post Graduate studies in Alcohol and Other Drugs are desirable but not essential
