Pangula Mannamurna Aboriginal Corporation (PMAC) is a Community Controlled Health Organisation located in Mount Gambier providing a comprehensive primary health care service to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across the Limestone Coast.

PMAC as an organisation is committed to the safety of children and young people, working within community to provide services so they feel safe, included and strong in culture.

The Opportunity

The objective of the TIS program is to reduce smoking and vaping rates among First Nations populations by preventing the uptake of smoking, e-cigarettes and promoting smoking cessation. Reductions in smoking prevalence will reduce rates of chronic disease and continue to improve the life expectancy for First Nations people. The role is multi-faceted which includes public speaking, policy review, education sessions, health promotion events and resource development and distribution.

A 6 month probationary period applies

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development of high quality holistic and culturally appropriate Tackling Indigenous Smoking promotion and prevention activities.
• Ensure program outcomes are achieved and preventative health activities are conducted.
• Data compilation and contributing to reporting requirements.
• Providing daily direction to TIS Community Engagement Workers.

Desirables

• Certificate III or equivalent experience in Community Services, or willing to obtain.
• Good communication, time management and multi-tasking skills.
• Strong passion for both health promotion and prevention.
• Demonstrated experience in engaging with, and understanding of, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and individuals.

Requirements

• Well developed computer skills, Microsoft Office suite utilised at PMAC.
• Out of hours work, and inter/intra state travel.
• Current full Drivers License.
• Current Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and DHS Working with Children clearance.
