Join a mission-driven global organisation and play a pivotal role in ensuring financial excellence. This role offers the opportunity to work across Australia, Singapore and the UK, supporting CEI's growth while strengthening our financial systems and processes.

We're looking for a Finance Officer who combines accuracy with initiative, someone who thrives on keeping financial operations seamless while supporting a global team.

This role goes beyond processing numbers; it's about ensuring CEI's financial foundation remains strong, so our teams can focus on creating impact.

You'll join a collaborative Operations and Finance team, and play a key role in:

Managing core financial processes

Oversee day-to-day finance operations with accuracy and timeliness, including accounts payable/receivable, weekly payment runs, credit card acquittal reviews, and monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations. Maintain compliance and financial controls across all transactions, and provide training or support to project teams as needed.

Supporting month-end and reporting

Work closely with the Financial Accountant on month-end activities. Prepare journals, assist with financial reporting, and provide analysis. Serve as a key contact during external audits.

Partnering with our teams

Act as a trusted finance partner to project and operational teams, helping them track budgets, monitor spend, and resolve accounting queries with clear and responsive support.

Improving systems and processes

Strengthen CEI's financial systems and workflows, driving process improvements and supporting a more streamlined, scalable global finance function with a continuous improvement mindset.

Key responsibilities

Transactional excellence

  • Manage accurate and timely processing of accounts payable/receivable, weekly payment runs, reconciliations, credit card acquittals, staff reimbursements, and quarterly GST/VAT returns.
  • Ensure compliance with local financial regulations and CEI internal controls.

Financial management and reporting support

  • Partner with the Financial Accountant on month-end and year-end reporting.
  • Prepare journals, adjustments, financial reports and analysis.
  • Assist with audit documentation and act as a key contact for external auditors.

Project and stakeholder support

  • Support project and operational teams in tracking budgets, forecasting spend and understanding financial performance.
  • Respond to finance queries and liaise with Save the Children Australia on accounting and reporting requirements.
  • Provide guidance and training to build financial capability within teams.

Systems, process & continuous improvement

  • Identify and implement improvements to streamline financial systems and workflows.
  • Support rollout and effective use of CEI's ERP system and other finance tools.
  • Promote consistent, scalable finance practices across jurisdictions.
  • Apply a continuous improvement mindset: spot issues, propose solutions and embed better ways of working.

We're looking for someone who…

  • Is detail-oriented, dependable and curious, with a knack for spotting gaps and improving processes.
  • Has experience in finance operations (accounts payable, bookkeeping or assistant accountant role).
  • Has a strong understanding of accounting principles, reconciliations and reporting.
  • Has solid Excel skills and familiarity with ERP systems.
  • Is comfortable working across multiple locations and jurisdictions.
  • Has a collaborative, solutions-focused mindset, with excellent organisational skills.
  • Has formal qualifications in accounting or bookkeeping (Cert III/IV, Diploma, or higher).

We are committed to diversity and inclusion

CEI is driven to improve outcomes for communities facing adversity through leveraging the best available evidence. Diversity and inclusion are fundamental to our work.

We actively seek and welcome applications from people with diverse backgrounds, and with lived experience of the social issues our work addresses and in the communities we aim to serve. We strongly encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Are you ready to help shape CEI's voice?

Apply now to become part of a team that's making a difference through evidence and action.

Download the position description and applicant pack.

To apply, please send to the following:

  • your resume
  • a cover letter of no more than 2 pages, describing how you meet the competencies outlined in the job description. You do not need to respond to every point individually, but we invite you to describe how you meet as many of the position, personal and qualification competencies as possible.

Applications close at 6pm AEST, Tuesday 14 October 2025.

Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted.

The Centre for Evidence and Implementation (CEI) is founded by Save the Children Australia. As a child-safe organisation, all employees are required to undergo a National Police Check, and sign our Child Protection Policy and Code of Conduct.
