Position Overview

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Advanced Mathematics Teacher to join our dynamic and supportive team on a part-time basis. This role focuses specifically on teaching Advanced Mathematics for Years 11 and 12 students preparing for their HSC examinations.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in guiding students through complex mathematical concepts, ensuring they develop both theoretical understanding and practical problem-solving skills essential for HSC success. Comprehensive training will be provided to ensure you're fully equipped to deliver our proven teaching methodologies.

Key Responsibilities - Teaching & Curriculum Delivery

  • Deliver engaging and effective Advanced Mathematics lessons for Years 11-12 students
  • Cover all aspects of HSC Advanced Mathematics syllabus
  • Implement innovative teaching methodologies to cater to diverse learning styles
  • Develop and deliver Extension Mathematics content for high-achieving students

Student Support & Assessment

  • Provide individualised support to help students overcome mathematical challenges
  • Conduct regular assessments and provide constructive feedback
  • Prepare students for HSC examinations through practice tests and exam techniques
  • Monitor student progress and maintain detailed records
  • Offer additional support sessions for struggling students

Professional Development

  • Stay current with NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) curriculum requirements
  • Participate in professional development opportunities
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and resources

Essential Requirements - Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education with Mathematics major, OR
  • Mathematics degree with teaching qualification, OR
  • Currently enrolled in relevant education/mathematics degree programme
  • Current or willingness to obtain NESA accreditation OR
  • Strong HSC Mathematics ATAR required - candidates must provide proof of their HSC Mathematics results/ATAR

Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 1 year teaching experience (preferred)
  • Proven expertise in Advanced Mathematics (Years 11-12 level)
  • Strong knowledge of HSC Mathematics syllabus and assessment requirements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to motivate and inspire students of varying abilities
  • Strong classroom management skills

Mandatory Requirements

  • Working with Children Check (WWCC) - current or willingness to obtain
  • Right to work in Australia
  • Professional references from previous teaching positions if possible

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience with Extension Mathematics (Extension 1 & Extension 2)
  • Previous HSC tutoring or coaching experience
  • Familiarity with educational technology and online learning platforms
  • Additional qualifications in related STEM subjects
  • Experience in small group or one-on-one tutoring environments

Compensation

Schedule & Availability - Part-time Position Only:

  • 3-9 hours per week
  • Current available time slots: Saturday 5:00 to 8:00PM or Monday 5:00 to 8:00PM
  • Additional time slots may become available based on student demand
