About the Role:

An exciting opportunity exists for a passionate Carer Consultant to join our team at Western Health Mental Health and Wellbeing Service. You will be pivotal in bringing the family/carer perspective to the fore, collaborating with leadership and staff in ongoing service improvement and enhancing engagement for better outcomes for families and carers.

Key Responsibilities:

This role requires lived/living experience as a family member or carer of someone living with mental illness who has accessed mental health services and a good understanding of carer perspective work. Leadership skills and initiative are essential in promoting and supporting family and carer participation and representation across various settings, including community, rehabilitation and inpatient units.

About You:

To be Successful in this Role, you will have:

  • A personal lived/living experience as a family member or carer of someone living with mental illness who has accessed mental health services.
  • Demonstrated experience in a designated lived experience role within an area mental health service or organisation.
  • Professional development/training relevant to the lived experience workforce.

We also operate Sunbury Community Hospital, Sunshine Mental Health and Wellbeing Centre, Melton Health and Community Services, Bacchus Marsh Community Health Centre, Caroline Springs Community Health Centre and Grant Lodge Residential Aged Care in Bacchus Marsh. Western Health also provides the primary healthcare service at the Dame Phyllis Frost Centre, a women's prison located in Ravenhall.
