Queensland Fencing Specialists PTY LTD is an Australian-owned business that
supplies and installs fences and fencing equipment in Australia.
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Bricklayer to join our team and contribute to the
successful delivery of for the successful implementation of projects for the installation of
various types of fences and gates across a variety of sites. This hands-on role is
responsible for laying bricks, blocks, and other building materials to construct concrete
or block foundations to support heavier fencing and also repair retaining walls,
partitions, arches, and other structures in accordance with project specifications and
safety standards.
As a Bricklayer, you will play a key role in ensuring the quality and structural integrity of
our builds. You'll work collaboratively with site managers, other tradespeople, and
contractors to deliver high-quality workmanship on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reading and interpreting plans or blueprints to figure out the materials needed,
measurements, and installation methods
Applying waterproof materials to fencing foundations before laying bricks or blocks
Spreading mortar with trowels to create a strong base and secure layers
Laying bricks in straight lines, patterns, or custom shapes depending on the project
Setting blocks in place and cleaning off excess mortar
Ensure foundations are level, stable, and aligned for both structural strength and visual
appeal
- Using hand and power tools to cut, shape, and smooth stones or bricks where
necessary
May build brick or stone columns to provide support and aesthetic value
May remove damaged sections of masonry section of fences or retaining walls and
rebuild them, matching the existing materials and style
- Custom-fitting bricks into tight or unusual spaces
Qualifications and Skills
We're looking for someone who has:
AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate
IV More than 3 years' experience in a related field.
Right to work in Australia
Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication and time management skills
Familiarity with tools, materials, and building techniques
The ability to read construction drawings and follow specifications
Good physical fitness and the ability to work on your feet
Strong attention to detail and pride in your work
Knowledge of health and safety procedures on construction sites
