About Maggio's Café

Maggio's Café is a family-run hospitality group known for Italian-inspired menus, exceptional coffee, and warm, community-focused service. Our Cammeray location has been bringing people together since 1998. We offer house-made pastries, café classics, and fresh seasonal dishes in a much loved local setting.

We are currently seeking a passionate and experienced Chef to join our Cammeray team full-time and help lead kitchen operations during daytime service.

Hours: 6am to 3pm | 2-3 shifts a week

Pay: Casual award rates | On the books

The Role

As a Chef at Maggio's Cammeray, you'll play a vital part in delivering consistent, high-quality dishes that reflect our values of simplicity, flavour, and hospitality. You'll be involved in everything from prep to service, team collaboration, and seasonal menu development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook dishes to a high standard, ensuring quality, consistency, and presentation
  • Follow established recipes while also contributing to seasonal menu updates
  • Maintain stock levels and manage ingredients efficiently to reduce waste
  • Uphold food safety, hygiene, and kitchen cleanliness at all times
  • Collaborate with fellow chefs and FOH staff to deliver smooth daily service

Requirements

  • Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Hospitality Management a plus)
  • At least 2 years' experience in a fast-paced café, restaurant, or similar venue
  • Solid understanding of food preparation techniques, kitchen equipment, and ingredients
  • Great attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Availability to work early mornings, weekends, and public holidays
