Location and Roster

• FIFO from Perth, Darwin, or Broome; or DIDO from Onslow, Exmouth, Karratha, or Dampier.
• Paulsens is located in the Ashburton Basin, Eastern Pilbara — 211 km inland from Onslow and 180 km west of Paraburdoo.
• Flights are to Onslow or Paraburdoo, followed by a two-hour drive to site.
• Roster: 8/6, day shift only.

About the Opportunity

As Alternate Underground Manager, you will be the right hand and back-to-back support for the UG Manager of our owner-operated mine. This critical leadership role oversees day-to-day operations and provides statutory coverage during periods of absence, including opportunities to be the Acting SSE.

This role requires someone who can be both hands-on and strategic, with the drive to meet safety, production, and cost targets. You will need to embrace challenges, bring passion for making a difference, and foster trust and shared values across all levels of the underground team.

About You

Your success will come from leading with a collaborative approach — working closely not just with the UG Mining Team, but with all departments across site. You'll lead by example: visible, caring, engaged, and humble, encouraging knowledge-sharing and building strong relationships.

You will need to have the below:

• Degree in Mining Engineering (or equivalent).
• WA Underground First Class Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency.
• Experience in mechanised hard-rock underground gold mining, including air leg, long hole open stope, narrow vein, and room-and-pillar methods.
• Demonstrated leadership experience with a passion for leading, developing and mentoring a diverse team.
• Strong technical background with capability in mine planning, ventilation, geotechnical, drill & blast, capital justifications, and infrastructure projects.
• Proven knowledge of risk management, safety and environmental systems, and statutory compliance in UG mining.
• Proficiency with mining software, ideally Deswik and Ventsim.
