Role impact & contribution

Support the cash management function for the State, one of Australia's largest liquidity pools, and contribute to important budget outcomes.

The Senior Analyst, Cash Optimisation role will undertake commercial analysis of the State's operating liquidity to identify and manage risks, forecast State borrowings and maintain key financial parameters through working closely with agencies and external stakeholders including NSW Treasury Corporation and State banking partners.

You will make recommendations at a whole of government perspective to ensure the State's operating liquidity pool operates efficiently, providing considered approaches to funding requirements and State forecast risks. You will be proficient in analysis through the use of data, creating and maintaining models that monitor and provide insights on key business cashflows.

Developing positive working relationships to understand inputs and financial relationships will help you to understand State cashflow drivers. Effective communication and collaboration with Treasury teams, agency counterparts and key external stakeholders is key. You will play a role in the State's annual budget process and actively contribute to fiscal sustainability.

The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria:

  • Experience in budgeting, business performance, forecasting or analysis with a commercial or analytical perspective.
  • Ability to analyse complex business issues and create models that clearly identify and track drivers , provide subject matter expert advice on liquidity requirements and cashflow risks.
  • A commitment to developing strong working relationships that lead to sharing of knowledge and insights.
  • Being inquisitive, with examples of finding ways to understand business issues and providing commercial advice and recommendations, based on data and models.
  • Ability to represent Treasury at internal and external working forums, to understand and analyse business issues and communicate forecasts and assumptions for key business drivers.
