In this role, you'll:

Join our dynamic Customer Journey Communications team at the Transport Management Centre, where you will deliver customer-centric real-time traffic and transport information to the media and public across NSW.

As a Transport Spokesperson you will communicate critical transport updates through live radio broadcasts across the state to ensure engaging, timely and accurate information is delivered to the media and public on traffic and transport disruptions, incidents and major events.

Working closely within a team of spokespeople and the Transport Operations Room, you will assist in the development and implementation of media strategies for significant and critical transport incidents and coordinate the preparation of media releases and other communications.

This unique role will see you working in a highly reactive, operational environment, where you will lend your voice as a trusted Transport representative.

This is a temporary full time position up to September 2026, located at our Transport Management Centre in Eveleigh, Sydney. The successful candidate is required to work shift work from 5am Monday to Friday and cover a weekend on-call shift on a rotating roster.

About you

You are an experienced media representative, with exposure to working in a fast paced, live radio or television newsroom. Your engaging communication style and ability to work in a reactive and dynamic operational environment will see you successfully deliver timely, accurate information to the media and associated internal and external stakeholders.

You may have a background as a newsreader, tv or radio journalist, or as a media spokesperson for another government agency or large complex organisation. You are confident in your ability to develop and deliver live radio updates at short notice, and prioritise updates according to impact and scale.

An understanding of the Greater Sydney or NSW road and public transport network would be highly regarded, although this is not essential.
