As part of our ongoing commitment to the Department of Justice, we're on the lookout for individuals like you to join our extraordinary team of Custody Officers in Carnarvon.
As a Custody Officer, you play a vital part in creating a safe and secure environment for detainees. With your professional and respectful attitude, you help ensure their welfare needs are met and their time spent in the Justice system is as smooth as possible. Each day presents challenges, and you have a variety of roles that will keep you engaged and working closely with your team.

- Paid Training: Enjoy 6 weeks of fully paid training, equipping you with the necessary skills for this unique role.
- Pay increase after training: Start at $27.35 during training, increasing to $29.50 post-training.
- Regional Allowance: An extra $5,943 per annum spread over your fortnightly wage payments.
What will your day-to-day look like?
- Safely transport and supervise detainees during critical activities.
- Participate in court activities for security requirements.
- Manage conflict and communicate with empathy, making a positive impact on the lives of detainees.
- Value diversity and display a fair and open-minded attitude towards people in custody.
- Provide safety and security for Persons in Custody, staff, employees, and members of the public.
- Enjoy the variety of performing walking and mobile patrols of a designated area.
- Be responsible for supervising people in custody, escorting them to appointments or court appearances, and maintaining accurate records.
What do we need from you?
- Availability to train full time for 6 weeks in Perth
- Commitment to a minimum of 12 months to obtain qualifications: We value your dedication and commitment to your professional growth.
- Australian citizen or permanent resident
- Willingness to undergo a pre-employment medical, including a drug & alcohol test: Ensuring the safety and well-being of our team members and detainees is our top priority.
