SkillQuest Solutions are seeking a qualified and experienced Motor Mechanic on behalf of our client who runs a family-owned and operated car servicing and crash repair workshop, located in Kilburn, South Australia.

Their services include diagnosing and repairing engines, transmission, steering, suspension, braking and electrical systems to ensure vehicles are safe, reliable, and roadworthy.

Position - Motor Mechanic

Location - Kilburn, South Australia

Salary - $77,000 - $80,000 plus superannuation per annum

Employment Type - Full-time, Permanent

THE ROLE:

We are looking for a Motor Mechanic who is highly skilled and takes pride in their work. You must be reliable and committed to delivering exceptional service. Key responsibilities include:

· Provide high-quality servicing and mechanical repairs for a range of vehicles, including routine maintenance and post-crash repair work.

· Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using advanced diagnostic equipment to identify issues impacting vehicle safety, performance, and drivability.

· Carry out scheduled maintenance tasks such as oil changes, brake inspections, fluid checks and replacements, and battery testing to ensure ongoing vehicle reliability.

· Repair and replace faulty or worn mechanical parts, including suspension, braking, steering, exhaust, and drivetrain components, to restore vehicles to roadworthy condition.

· Perform complex mechanical work where required, such as engine repairs, transmission servicing, and steering system adjustments.

· Test, calibrate, and fine-tune mechanical systems to confirm safe performance and compliance with standards following crash repairs.

· Conduct vehicle inspections to provide comprehensive assessments of necessary mechanical repairs and confirm roadworthiness certification where applicable.

· Adhere strictly to occupational health and safety (OHS) standards, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), safe workshop practices, and proper disposal of hazardous materials, to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

· Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanics (or agreed equivalent).

· Minimum of 1 year (preferably more) post training experience in a similar role.

· Strong mechanical and problem-solving skills.

· Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.

· Knowledge of automotive systems, including engines, transmissions, braking systems, and electrical components.

· Able to work independently and as part of a team.

· Reliable, with great time management skills.

· Current Australian driver's licence - ESSENTIAL.

· You must have unrestricted working rights to work full time in Australia to be eligible for consideration.
