The North Australian Aboriginal Justice Agency (NAAJA) is seeking a committed Civil Lawyer to join our Katherine-based team.

The Opportunity

NAAJA's Civil Law Practice is busy, diverse, and deeply impactful—providing culturally competent, trauma-informed services in areas such as police and prison accountability, housing, child protection, discrimination, tenancy, social security, and coronial inquests.

As a Civil Lawyer, you will:

  • Provide expert legal advice and representation to Aboriginal clients
  • Undertake litigation and casework across a range of civil law matters
  • Deliver advice clinics in urban centres and remote Aboriginal communities
  • Identify and contribute to law reform and policy change
  • Work collaboratively with our dedicated team to achieve justice outcomes

What We're Looking For

  • Is admitted or eligible for admission as a solicitor in the NT
  • Has civil law experience and litigation skills
  • Communicates well across cultures and communities
  • Is ready to travel and stay overnight in remote areas
  • Wants to contribute to law reform and social justice
