Engage Marine Pty Ltd is part of the Engage Marine Group of Companies and is responsible for delivering services in Port Latta, Tasmania.

Engage Marine run the Tug and Lines boat operations and ship loading Operations at Port Latta, an Iron ore processing and shipping facility located on the North-West coast of Tasmania.

We are currently looking for a permanent Line Boat Deckhand to support our operations in Port Latta.

Note: Due to the on-call nature of these positions and the short notice period it is only suitable for people who reside on the NW Coast of Tasmania

About the role

Engage Marine are looking for a Lines Boat Deckhand who will be responsible for performing all duties in line with a General Purpose Hand, including rope handling, assisting with vessel berthing and unberthing operations, maintaining vessel cleanliness, supporting maintenance tasks, and carrying out any other duties as directed by the vessel Master to ensure the safe and continuous operation of the vessel. The position will be required to:

  • Participates in all statutory and other drills required to at the request of management or the client.

  • Carry out all instructions given by the vessel Master during emergency situations.

  • Assists in safe bunkering in accordance with company policies and procedures.

  • Assists in inspecting the fire and safety equipment when and as required.

  • Assists in the maintenance of tools and equipment on board the vessel.

  • Assists in general vessel maintenance as required or directed.

  • Maintain good relationships and sound communication with fellow crew members, on-board Pilots as necessary, visitors and all other stakeholders as required.

  • Ensure that all accidents, incidents, near misses and non-conformities are reported to Engage Marine Management in accordance with procedures and that appropriate corrective and preventive action is taken and assists with incident reporting and investigation as required.

  • Completes required paperwork, , including deck handover notes and weekly and monthly inspections.

About you

  • Minimum qualification: General Purpose Hand (NC) or STCW95 Basic Safety Training.

  • Master IV desirable

  • Minimum 2 years' experience as a General Purpose Deckhand undertaking similar operations.
