Role Purpose

We're looking for a skilled Senior Security Engineer with strong expertise in Azure infrastructure and security to join our security team at Uniting.

In this role, you'll design, implement, and manage secure, scalable Azure-based solutions, with a focus on network configuration, identity management, and automation. You'll play a key role in ensuring our cloud environments remain robust, compliant, and optimised for performance and cost.

You'll collaborate closely with development, operations, and security teams, providing expert guidance while mentoring junior colleagues and contributing to the continuous improvement of our cloud infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain secure Azure environments, integrating on-premise Active Directory with Azure Entra ID.
• Configure and manage Azure security components including Microsoft Sentinel and Defender for Cloud.
• Monitor and optimise Azure resources for performance, availability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Configure and manage Microsoft Entra ID for identity and access management, including conditional access and role-based access control.
• Implement and manage Microsoft Intune for device compliance, application deployment, and endpoint protection.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support application deployments and infrastructure needs.
• Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentoring to junior team members.
• Document configurations, procedures, and system changes in detail.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 7–10 years' experience in IT infrastructure and security roles, with a strong focus on Azure cloud services.
• Proven experience in configuring and managing Azure IaaS and PaaS environments.
• Strong background in Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory, and Intune (MDM solutions).
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell and JSON.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a methodical and analytical approach to problem-solving.
• Demonstrated ability to foster collaboration and innovation across diverse teams.
• Up-to-date knowledge of emerging technologies, security trends, and best practices.

Preferred certifications

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
• Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals
