With close to 60 years in the game, this well-established steel supplier has built a solid reputation across Canberra's construction and manufacturing sectors. Supplying a wide range of steel building products to both commercial and residential projects, they operate out of two busy sites and are known for consistent, high-quality service. The team values reliability, hard work, and a hands-on approach. You'll be based at their Fyshwick branch, where they're looking for a skilled HR driver to help keep materials moving efficiently and ensure customers get what they need, when they need it.

Your new role
As a truck driver, you'll be responsible for:

  • Driving the company truck to and from the factory

  • Operating a Hiab crane to load and unload the truck on site

  • Maintaining the truck as required

  • Liaising with customers and being the face of the company

What you'll need to succeed

This company is looking for drivers who have:

  • A heavy rigid (HR) truck license and recent operating experience

  • Experience operating a Hiab crane or willingness to learn

  • Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude

  • Previous experience in the steel industry or a similar field is highly desirable

  • A strong work ethic and reliability – someone who is willing to show up every day and take pride in their work

What you'll get in return

  • You'll be paid an hourly rate of $38p/h plus super

  • Standard hours are either a 7:00am or 8:00am start, finishing at 3:30pm or 4:30pm depending on workload and scheduling

  • You'll also be paid for all overtime hours worked

  • This client has the view to transfer contractors to permanent roles after a probationary period, which will come with extra benefits as well
