Looking for a change of pace and a chance to experience life in Australia's outback? The Marble Bar Roadhouse & Travellers Rest (Motel) is seeking a trainee 2IC to join our team in the heart of the Pilbara.
About the Role
It's not a standard 9-5 office job. It's a live-in hands-on role. Starting off learning the business appreciating how each roll adds value to the next, then moving to 3-4 shifts a week front of house and 2 shifts in the office. This will progressively train you for Management coverage and succession planning of the current Manager. A 2-year commitment will give you free accommodation, meals and a great place to save money.
Key Duties
- Front-of-house customer service and shift coverage
- Motel coordination: bookings, cleaning schedules, maintenance liaison
- Housekeeping rotation coverage
- Rostering, ordering, stock control, and accounts
- Administrative tasks including reporting and compliance
- Social media management and community engagement
- Supporting a cooperative, inclusive, and consistent team culture
- Cultivating authentic business pride and enthusiasm in all communications
Skills & Experience
We're looking for someone who is enthusiastic, adaptable, proactive, and keen to learn. Someone with an enquiring mind, asking what we can do to make things better?
Essential:
- Australian Driver's Licence
- Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA)
- Suitable fitness level for hands-on duties (cleaning, stock handling, standing for long periods)
- Strong Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, Publisher)
- Minimum 3 years office experience
- Minimum 2 years retail/hospitality experience
Desirable:
- Experience managing staff
- Forklift licence and operational experience
- Social media management experience

- Willing to learn new skills and take on diverse challenges
- Comfortable living in a semi-remote town with limited urban amenities but plenty of adventure
