Postion Overview

The Quantity Surveyor – exists to ensure our commercial interest are protected in respect of the Employer, Sub-Contractors and Suppliers and to administer the change management commercial requirements in respect of the sub-contract supply chain in a manner that is commensurate with this purpose.

  • To liaise with Operations, Engineering and Planning Departments to ensure commercial support and delivery is provided as appropriate to the supply chain requirements.
  • Populate and track client derived BOQ documents. Take offs and data entry to complete BOQs until client acceptance.
  • Deliver project proposals, estimates, take offs, tender letters, and cost break downs. The role will be a 60/40 split between QS and Estimating
  • Generate material quantity take offs, conceptual estimates and detailed estimates with limited supervision.
  • Assisting our project managers with monthly project reporting and cash flow management.
  • Ensure the scope of work is accurately administered in a timely manner.
  • Prepare conceptual estimates/order of costs from descriptive narratives and/or other preliminary information such as project master plans and the like.
  • Prepare benchmarking studies to assess the cost effectiveness of deign proposals.
  • Prepare cost plans, design cost checks and option cost appraisals during design development.
  • Prepare detailed cost breakdown of components and elements for systems and sub-systems, identity and quantify change to the scope of works.
  • Prepare regular reports as instructed by your line manager to provide accurate and consistent status of progress, key issues and close out of workflow.
  • Effectively liaise with sub-contractors and suppliers.
  • Effectively review both commercially and technically sub-contractors/supplier's costs.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role you will have previous experience in estimating, quantity surveying or construction and will have extensive experience within the mechanical services industry. With an engaging communication style and an ability to build rapport and credibility with clients, colleagues, and contractors. Opportunities for advancement exist, depending on your aspirations.
