The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Billing and Revenue Officer to join our dynamic finance team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely billing of private patients and the effective management of hospital revenue streams. Your strong understanding of the Australian private health system, including Medicare and health fund processes, will ensure excellence in service delivery and financial performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end private patient billing including estimates, admissions, and final accounts.
  • Generate, process, and reconcile invoices in line with Aegis Health policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Liaise with private health funds, Medicare, DVA, and insurers to verify eligibility and ensure prompt claims and payments.
  • Follow up on outstanding accounts and manage debt recovery processes.
  • Provide clear, compassionate billing advice to patients and families regarding coverage and costs.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve billing discrepancies and optimise revenue capture.
  • Maintain accurate billing data using PAS systems (e.g., Fydo, Eclipse).
  • Prepare regular revenue reports and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
  • Stay informed about industry changes, billing codes, and compliance regulations.

About You

Essential:

  • Proven experience in hospital billing, revenue cycle management, or patient accounts in an Australian private healthcare setting.
  • Strong knowledge of Medicare, private health funds, and billing systems (Fydo/Eclipse preferred).
  • Understanding of the PHI Act, HCP, and relevant coding standards (ACHI/ACS).
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial matters clearly and respectfully.
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic claiming platforms.
  • Demonstrated commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical conduct.
  • Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable:

  • Certificate III or IV in Health or Medical Administration.
  • Experience with debt recovery and knowledge of medical terminology and coding.

Credentialing Requirements

  • Current eligibility to work in Australia.
  • Valid police clearance and Working with Children Check.
  • Successful identification check.
