The Role

Data Centre Technicians will be responsible for planning, deploying and maintaining a range of diverse hardware in a complex ICT system. Informed by their knowledge of Technical/ICT solutions, they will be responsible for ensuring project and operational requirements are met, and assuring the health and performance of the system.

ASD 5 Data Centre Technician:

Under direction…

  • Perform ICT hardware deployment, integration and decommissioning activities, and support related planning;
  • Support hardware lifecycle activities;
  • Support the investigation, diagnosis and resolution of infrastructure faults and problems; and
  • Contribute to documentation and continuous improvement.

ASD 6 Data Centre Technician:

Under limited direction…

  • Assist in the planning and execution of ICT hardware deployment, integration and decommissioning;
  • Manage and support the hardware inventory, from procurement to disposal;
  • Assist with the investigation, diagnosis and resolution of infrastructure faults and problems; and
  • Monitor work practices and documented processes for continuous improvement.

About our Team

The Mission Capability Division (MCDiv) - Mission Operations & Assurance team is responsible for the implementation, management and day-to-day operation of a complex ICT system. This includes overseeing all aspects of the hardware lifecycle, and end-to-end assurance of the system's operational functions. It also includes configuration and optimisation of the system, critical aspects of service management, and continual development of business process and documentation.

The Enterprise Technology Division (ETD) Data Centre Managers team is responsible for the day-to-day management of ASD's Enterprise Data Centre facilities and infrastructure. This day-to-day management includes overseeing the entire ASD enterprise data centre environment, production of policies and documents, configuration of systems, administration of documentation and configuration of data centre infrastructure and systems.
