About the Opportunity

As an Assistant Project Manager, you will support the successful delivery of projects across all phases of the project lifecycle, on the SSN AUKUS Build Program at Osbourne, SA. Your role will involve managing elements of major docked maintenance projects, minor maintenance or capability upgrades, and very minor business improvement initiatives. This is a dynamic opportunity to contribute to complex, high-impact projects while developing your leadership and project management skills in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain project performance baselines, track progress, and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Lead risk and opportunity reviews, proactively managing mitigation and realisation strategies.
• Liaise daily with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Production, Supply Chain, and Finance.
• Prepare and coordinate project reports and reviews on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis.
• Manage financial performance as Control Account Manager (CAM) for assigned project elements.
• Supervise and support Project Coordinators and Administrators, ensuring safety and performance standards.
• Promote a strong safety culture and contribute to continuous improvement in submarine capability delivery.
• Mentor team members and foster a high-performance project management culture.

About You

• Tertiary qualifications in a technical or project management discipline or equivalent experience in systems engineering, naval construction or complex asset management / development environment.
• A minimum of 5 years' experience in a complex project environment at a Project Engineer level (or equivalent).
• Demonstrable high-level verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrable practical knowledge of Scheduling, Earned Value Management, financial, stakeholder and personnel management as applicable to a complex project environment.
• Autonomous, goal directed and capable of planning, organising and managing multiple priorities with limited direction.
• Demonstrates strong leadership capabilities, sound judgment, and a resilient, team-oriented mindset.
• Builds effective relationships across the organisation and delivers exceptional customer service.

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance and an ability to access protected US defence technology. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearances and approvals.
