POSITION OVERVIEW
The role of the Quality Assurance Coordinator - Precast is critical in ensuring the highest standards of quality and compliance throughout the design, manufacture, delivery, and installation of precast elements across Hickory's projects. As a key member of the quality management team, the Quality Assurance Coordinator - Precast plays a pivotal role in developing, implementing, and maintaining robust quality assurance procedures specific to precast production and erection. This role ensures that every precast element meets stringent regulatory requirements, project specifications, and industry standards, while also driving continuous improvement across the precast lifecycle.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and Implement Quality Assurance Policies for Precast - Establish and maintain QA policies specific to precast manufacturing and installation to ensure compliance with industry standards, client specifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct Regular Precast Yard and Site Inspections - Systematically inspect precast production processes, including mould preparation, reinforcement placement, concrete pouring, curing, and handling. Perform on-site audits during installation to ensure compliance and high-quality outcomes.
- Collaborate with Regulatory and Certification Bodies - Engage with relevant industry regulators, certification agencies, and engineers to ensure all precast elements meet applicable codes and standards.
- Integrate QA into Precast Production and Erection Plans - Work with project and production teams to embed quality assurance controls throughout the precast lifecycle—from design and manufacture to delivery and erection.
- Lead Precast QA Training Programs - Design and deliver training focused on precast-specific QA practices including casting techniques, dimensional tolerances, lifting and handling procedures, and safety requirements.
- Manage Precast Documentation and Traceability - Maintain comprehensive quality records, including pour checklists, dimension reports, NCRs, lifting certificates, and delivery dockets to support traceability and audit readiness.
- Monitor and Improve Precast Processes - Use data from inspections, NCRs, and production metrics to identify trends, streamline QA activities, and introduce process improvements across the precast operation.
- Ensure Compliance Through Testing and Verification - Oversee regular testing such as compressive strength, surface finish inspections, and dimensional verification of precast elements. Ensure compliance at key stages including post-pour, pre-delivery, and post-installation.
- Facilitate Cross-Functional Collaboration - Work closely with design teams, production managers, erection crews, and site teams to maintain alignment on QA expectations and resolve issues collaboratively.
- Identify and Address Root Causes of Precast Issues - Conduct root cause analysis on defects such as cracking, spalling, or misalignment and implement corrective measures to prevent recurrence.
- Develop and Maintain Precast Quality Dashboards - Provide visibility into quality metrics like defect rates, rework incidents, and compliance trends, supporting continuous improvement and accountability.
- Support Continuous Improvement Across the Precast Lifecycle - Proactively evaluate QA systems and recommend changes to enhance performance, reduce waste, and improve consistency across projects.
- Provide Feedback and Recommendations to Stakeholders - Communicate common quality concerns, contribute to lessons learned sessions, and support development of quality alerts or technical bulletins specific to precast.
- Attend Precast Design and Coordination Workshops - Participate in design coordination meetings to ensure constructability, quality, and lifting/handling considerations are addressed early.
- Conduct Timely Inspections Prior to and During Erection - Attend sites during critical installation stages to ensure quality is upheld before and during placement of precast elements, including connections, caulking, and bracing.
TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE ROLE
- Experience in Precast Quality Assurance - Proven experience in a QA role within the precast industry, with a strong understanding of quality management systems and relevant standards.
- Precast and Construction Knowledge - Solid technical understanding of precast production processes, including mould setup, reinforcement placement, concrete pouring, curing, demoulding, handling, transport, and installation.
- Knowledge of how precast integrates with broader construction elements such as structural systems and façades.
- Inspection and Audit Skills for Precast - Hands-on experience conducting inspections and audits in both the precast yard and on-site during installation.
- Strong Documentation and Traceability Skills - Proficient in managing and auditing QA documentation specific to precast.
- Problem Solving and Root Cause Analysis - Skilled at identifying root causes of precast defects. Exceptional Attention to Detail - High level of precision and diligence when reviewing precast elements, production records, and installation works.
