The Outdoor Museum is internationally renowned as a living museum featuring rare trades, and programs and experiences that interpret a pivotal point in Australia's history. In all, some 350 staff work to bring our gold-rush story to life. They are supported by over 250 volunteers.

We are seeking a dynamic
Education Officer to fill a 14-month maternity position in the Costumed School
Program, commencing in January 2026. Sovereign
Hill Education delivers high-quality, Victorian (2.0) and Australian
Curriculum-aligned education programs for tens of thousands of students annually.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • *Role-play the strict, all-knowing, embodiment of 1850's Victorian 'Ma'am' or 'Sir'***when
    costumed.
  • Prepare the museum spaces for school program delivery.
  • Deliver two Costumed School programs weekly (Tuesday
    & Wednesday | Thursday & Friday), to become living exhibits in the
    Museum.
  • Collect, analyseand respond to visiting primary school survey data.
  • Design as required teaching and learning resources
    to support the program experience.

Desired qualifications

  • Bachelor of Education - Early Years, Primary or Secondary
  • Current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration
