Funeral Concierge / Transfer Driver – Sydney
Bare Funerals and Cremations
Who is Bare?
We are a company dedicated to providing accessible, affordable end of life care to change the way that Australians deal with death.
Our aim is to change the game in the funeral industry and, in doing so, bring a healthier and more proactive approach to end of life.
By combining empathy with technology, we're creating end-of-life experiences that are simple, personalised and affordable.
In only four years, we've served more than 30,000 families, have become Australia's most awarded end-of-life provider (with awards in customer service, innovation and digital disruption), and have built a team of more than 100 people committed to changing the way Australians deal with end-of-life. And we're just getting started.
As part of our growth, we're expanding our team in Greater Sydney and looking for an amazing individual to help families on the day of the funeral ceremony and support our care team with transfers.
About the role
This is a dual role combining Funeral Concierge / Conductor and Transfer Driver responsibilities.
It's ideal for someone who takes pride in helping others, provides calm and compassionate support during emotional times, and is equally comfortable caring for families at services and assisting behind the scenes with the respectful transfer of their loved one.
Key responsibilities
Funeral Concierge duties:
- Attend funeral and memorial services as an on-site support for families and celebrants.
- Greet guests, manage event setup, and ensure each ceremony runs smoothly.
- Set up flowers, tables, and orders of service.
- Operate music, slideshows, and AV equipment as required.
- Liaise with celebrants, venue staff and families to deliver a calm, seamless experience.
- Remain composed and adaptable when last-minute changes arise.
Transfer & care duties:
- Transfer deceased persons from the place of passing to mortuary facilities (including hospitals, aged care, private homes and public settings).
- Work respectfully with healthcare staff, police, and coronial personnel.
- Communicate compassionately and professionally with families.
- Handle and transport the deceased with care, using provided tools and training (manual handling required).
- Safely navigate stairs or limited-access locations.
- Participate in an on-call roster and meet agreed response timeframes.
About you
You are:
- Compassionate, composed and empathetic – you genuinely care about helping others.
- Reliable, professional and calm under pressure.
- Physically fit and capable of safe manual handling.
- Comfortable using basic technology (AV, laptops, music systems).
- A team player with excellent communication skills.
- Someone who approaches every task with dignity and respect.
Requirements
- Full, valid driver's licence and personal transport.
- Current Police Check (or willingness to obtain).
- Full working rights in Australia.
- Mobile phone.
- Ability to commit to a reliable roster.
- Strength and fitness to assist with manual transfers.
What's in it for you
This isn't your ordinary role, in your ordinary company.
Someone in our team recently said: "The best team, with the best manager, I've ever worked with. I just can't believe how much I love it."
In addition, you'll enjoy:
- Great opportunities for personal growth and career development.
- Flexibility and autonomy with a supportive, caring team culture.
- Competitive hourly rate (with vehicle reimbursement).
- The chance to make a genuine human impact every day.
- A friendly, purpose-driven workplace where people love what they do.
How to apply
Please apply with your CV and a cover letter addressing the key criteria above.
Tell us about your experience and why you're passionate about supporting families during one of the most important moments in their lives.
