We're on the hunt for a visionary Data Governance & Stewardship Specialist to drive value for Intermediated Insurance Australia (IIA) by strengthening data governance and stewardship practices that enable trusted, consistent, and compliant use of data. You'll work across projects and business domains to define and maintain data assets, uphold data quality standards, and support regulatory and operational needs. Through collaboration and subject matter expertise, you'll embed governance into solution delivery and uplift data capability across the team.
Your Role:
As a Specialist, Data Governance & Stewardship, you will play a key role in enabling trusted, consistent, and accessible data across the organisation. You'll be responsible for curating and maintaining a centralised library of data assets, business metrics, and definitions - making it easier for teams to discover, understand, and use data with confidence.
You will design and implement governance frameworks that define critical metrics, assign clear ownership, and embed accountability for data accuracy and usage. A core part of your role will be to develop and uphold data quality standards, championing processes that drive continuous improvement and ensure high levels of data integrity.
In addition, you'll coordinate responses to regulatory data requests, ensuring submissions are accurate, validated, and aligned with industry and internal standards. You'll help shape the data structures and governance models that support efficient regulatory reporting, while ensuring compliance with the Group Delegations & Authorities Policy and broader governance expectations.
This is a permanent position open to candidates based in Gadigal Country (Darling Park 2, Sydney), Naarm (Melbourne) and Meanjin (Brisbane)
About You:
- A minimum of 5+ years' experience in a data-related role, such as pricing, performance, or data analysis within insurance business.
- Proven ability to represent business interests in Data Management and Data Stewardship, aligning with compliance obligations.
- Experience working with the Principal, Data Governance & Risk to implement controls and develop strategies for data retention.
- Strong communication skills, adept at collaborating and driving data-related strategies.
