The Department for Infrastructure and Transport plays a vital role connecting people and places in South Australia by delivering a multi-billion-dollar pipeline of transport and social infrastructure projects, operating and maintaining thousands of kilometres of roads and managing our city's public transport network.
Public Transport South Australia (PTSA), a division of the Department for Infrastructure and Transport, is committed to providing well-connected and customer-focused services for mass transit movements that can be delivered safely, efficiently, and sustainably.
The Tram Operator is responsible for delivering day-to-day effective and efficient public transport services, including the provision of tram driving and assisting ticketing and fare management, while ensuring a professional, safe, timely, reliable, and friendly transport service to customers. Classified as a Safety Critical worker, the Tram Operator will liaise with a range of internal and external customers, including service providers, contractors, other workgroups, and members of the public.
About You
You will be proactive and demonstrate a genuine concern for safety. You will also have highly developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to deliver clear, concise, and accurate advice to people at all levels in a professional manner.
You will have:
- A current unrestricted Class C or above Drivers Licence (essential).
- Sound knowledge of Australian Road rules.
- Previous experience dealing with customers and the ability to demonstrate conflict resolution techniques.
- Availability to undertake shift work in accordance with a 7-day rotating roster, over 365 days per year, including morning, night, split shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
- Safety Critical Worker Category 1 clearance and subject to pre-employment and periodic health assessments in accordance with the National Standard for Health Assessment of Rail Safety Workers.
- Fitness for duty as a Category 1 Rail Safety Worker maintained.
- All Rail Safety Workers must carry out duties in accordance with the Rail Safety National Law (SA) Act 2012.
- A National Police Check (NPC) is required prior to employment in the Department, which must be renewed every three years.
- A valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) is required prior to employment and is required to be maintained throughout employment.
Successful candidates:
To be a successful candidate, you must be highly motivated, willing to work a 7 day rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays, have well-developed skills in the areas of communication, problem-solving and concentration. You will be prepared to be challenged, accountable, work collaboratively with team members, have the ability to work under extreme pressure and adhere to rigorous safety standards.
Remuneration
Weekly Paid - $1,223.03 to $1,671.19 per week
