Specialist Learning Support Teacher

We are seeking a Specialist Learning Support Teacher for our Goulburn Campus to commence in Term 1, 2026 on a full time, permanent basis.

About You

All applicants will need an excellent understanding of the Australian Curriculum and Syllabus, be an NSW registered teacher and have relevant teaching and tertiary qualifications.

As a Learning Support Teacher, you will be skilled in the ability to identify and evaluate student needs, differentiate instruction for students along all parts of the learning spectrum, collect, analyse, and effectively utilise data, create and implement individualised education plans and be able to provide professional guidance to staff.  Experience working with students with ASD is essential.  Strong ability to effectively engage and support teenage boys is highly regarded.

Essential Experience: 

• Expertise in neurodiversity: Demonstrated experience in supporting students with intellectual disability and autism spectrum disorder, and broader neurodiverse needs in an inclusive setting.
• Individualised education planning: Proven ability to develop and implement personalised learning programs, with strong skills in differentiation and adjustment documentation (aligned to NCCD).
• Collaboration: Capacity to work closely with classroom teachers, families, allied health professionals, and support staff to create a consistent approach.
• Behaviour and engagement strategies: Familiarity with trauma-informed practice, PBS (Positive Behaviour Support), and approaches like "Kids Do Well If They Can" (Ross Greene).
• Communication supports: Knowledge of visual supports, social scripts, and strategies to enhance expressive and receptive language, including scaffolding, modelling, and differentiated instruction.
• Personal care and dignity: Commitment to supporting students with sensitivity and respect with personal care, diabetes management support, following individual care plans, maintaining confidentiality, and promoting independence and dignity in all aspects of school life.
• Leadership within support: Ability to mentor, coordinate, and upskill colleagues in inclusive practice.
