Our client is a large Queensland-based organisation uplifting data governance and cybersecurity capability across the business.

With a modern data platform and data catalogue underway, they're now focused on implementing Microsoft Purview as the foundation for Data Loss Prevention (DLP) and information protection.

About the Role

As the Purview Engineer / Cyber Analyst, you'll lead the configuration and implementation of Microsoft Purview to deliver DLP capabilities across the organisation.

Reporting into the program manager, this is a hands-on technical role where you'll design and operationalise Purview, establish sensitivity labelling frameworks, and partner with business stakeholders to drive adoption and compliance.

This position offers long-term stability, with the opportunity to transition into a permanent role as Purview becomes embedded in business-as-usual operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Configure and implement Microsoft Purview for data classification, sensitivity labelling, and DLP enforcement.
  • Design and maintain sensitive information types and classifiers aligned with organisational data governance standards.
  • Work collaboratively with data architects and governance SMEs to ensure Purview aligns with enterprise data initiatives.
  • Partner with business units to promote adoption, troubleshoot issues, and support continuous improvement.
  • Support the uplift of data literacy and information management awareness across the organisation.

About You

  • Proven experience implementing and configuring Microsoft Purview, ideally from the ground up.
  • Strong knowledge of data classification, sensitivity labelling, and information protection.
  • Excellent communication skills – able to simplify complex technical topics for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Confident influencing and engaging with stakeholders
  • Self-motivated, collaborative, and hands-on approach.
  • Background in cybersecurity, cloud security, or data governance preferred.
