About the Business

Our Community and Aboriginal Partnerships Division helps to build community safety and wellbeing by providing support and services to children, young people and families, including those involved with the youth justice system, remote Aboriginal communities, and people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. The division also leads the department's Closing the Gap work.

Role Details

The Workforce Strategist is a role within Youth Justice and Inclusion Support and is accountable to the General Manager, Strategy, Systems and Business Services, for:

  • Managing and coordinating the development, implementation and evaluation of strategies and projects to achieve specific outcomes and support the achievement of organisational objectives.
  • Researching, analysing and reviewing workforce strategy, policy issues and workforce practices, identifying emerging issues, and developing evidence-based recommendations.
  • Contributing to the development of workforce planning strategies, including the provision of workforce analytics and reporting to improve performance, address workforce challenges, facilitate staff mobility and support business decision making.

Some out of hours work may be required.

Some interstate and intrastate travel may be required.

Must hold a current Australian issued driver's licence (equivalent to minimum class C).

Essential Qualifications:

Tertiary qualification in Organisational Psychology, human resources, business, or other relevant discipline and/or equivalent professional experience.

Knowledge and understanding of and/or experience in the use of the Dimensions rostering system (or similar systems) and workforce planning for a 24/7 multidisciplinary workforce would be highly desirable.

Knowledge of industrial relations requirements and experience in consulation with union and health and safety representatives would also be highly regarded.

Role Status: Term up to 13/11/2026

Salary Range: $108,109-$116,864 (ASO7)
