About the branch
Led by the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the Corporate Services branch plays a crucial role in enabling VGSO's overall success by providing essential support and strategic guidance to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness. Balancing an appreciation of the complexities and nuances of the public sector, along with the requirements of operating in a competitive legal services environment, the branch delivers proactive, effective and efficient services to VGSO's internal and external clients.
Through its work, the Corporate Services branch fosters a cohesive and supportive environment that encourages innovation, continuous improvement, and a client-centric approach.
Functionally, the following business areas are included within the Corporate Services branch:
- Office of the Chief Operating Officer (Strategy and Governance)
- Finance
- Information Communications Technology
- Knowledge Management
- Client Insights and Communications
About the role
This newly created role in a small multi-disciplinary team supports recent growth in the VGSO and improvements in the marketing and communications function. This role requires a strategic thinker who can align marketing initiatives with broader business direction and outcomes.
Success in this role demands adaptability, strong communication skills, and the ability to influence stakeholders. You will work across branches of the organisation, responding swiftly to changing priorities and client needs, to drive engagement. Your ability to communicate VGSO benefits clearly and persuasively will be essential in managing client expectations and managing relationships.
You will work with the Client Insights and Communications team to define key tasks, coordinate execution, and monitor progress to meet critical milestones.

Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate marketing campaigns, programs and events from conception to conclusion.
- Provide strategic advice, develop communications, and produce accurate and easy to understand content, marketing materials, and collateral.
- Work with internal stakeholders, to meet unique needs of different parts of the business and ensure involvement in the development of client and business development plans.
- Advance the communications function by guiding the broader organisation in consistent and strategic internal and external communications and marketing initiatives.
- Implement effective processes, systems and new technologies to meet best practice and c ontinuously improve the delivery.
- Defining, tracking, and reporting on key marketing and communications metrics, identifying opportunities for growth, addressing challenges, and recommending improvements.
- Support leadership with clear, effective communication that promotes transparency, fosters two-way dialogue, and builds trust internally and externally.
Skill & Experience
- Demonstrated high level written skills, including attention to detail, strong capability in writing effectively and with impact editing and proofreading skills.
- Experience planning, delivering and evaluating marketing and communications campaigns to meet identified objectives within timeframes and budget.
- Proven ability to plan and prioritise in order to deliver a broad range of competing tasks and priorities.
- Ability to work with client teams to develop and implement business objectives.
- Well-established verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate with diverse stakeholders internal and external to the organisation.
- Ability to work effectively, often within tight deadlines, within a team environment and independently.
- Demonstrated ability to use initiative, and to identify systems and processes requiring improvement.
