Fixed term, full time position available until 2029.

Together with the University of Adelaide's, Adelaide Centre for Epigenetics (ACE), the South Australian immunoGENomics Cancer Institute (SAiGENCI) is inviting applications for a Level A Post Doctoral Scientist position.

This position will report to Professor Jose Polo, Lead of the Cancer Epigenetics Program at the South Australian Immunogenomics Cancer Institute (SAiGENCI) and the Inaugural Director of the Adelaide Centre for Epigenetics (ACE). Together the SAiGENCI Cancer Epigenetics program and ACE strive to unravel the epigenetic mechanisms contributing to cell fate, development and cancer, with the aim of developing effective therapeutics.

The postdoctoral researcher will apply their expertise in biochemistry, epigenetics, and molecular biology to lead and contribute to cutting-edge research in cancer systems and developmental biology. They will independently design and execute experiments using advanced techniques such as ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq, RNA-seq, and single-cell or spatial genomics, while also maintaining mammalian cell cultures and performing a wide range of molecular assays. In addition to managing their own research projects, they will collaborate across disciplines, communicate effectively within and beyond the lab, and support other researchers. Their strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills will be essential in driving high-impact discoveries and advancing the lab's research goals

To be successful you will need:

  • Completion of a PhD in biochemistry and epigenetics and/or equivalent professional experience Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research, including leading research, where applicable in cancer systems and/or developmental biology including neurodevelopment.
  • Extensive experience with a diverse range of molecular and cellular biology techniques, including but not limited to ATAC-seq and ChIP-seq, including sample preparation, RNA-seq, DNA methylation assays, and/or single-cell library construction, and sequencing.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate within the team, across disciplines and with collaborators.
