Are you a seasoned accounting professional ready to make a meaningful impact in local government? Berrigan Shire Council is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our collaborative and forward-thinking Finance Team.
This is a 6-month contract position with the potential to transition into a full-time role for the right candidate.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Lead the preparation of Council's annual financial statements and statutory reports.
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
- Oversee internal controls, compliance, and audit processes.
- Provide expert financial advice to senior management and Council.
- Mentor and support junior finance staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
What You'll Need:
- Tertiary qualification in accounting
- Full membership or qualification for full membership of professional accounting body (CPA or CA)
- Proven experience in financial management, preferably within local government or a similar environment.
- Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.

This is a full-time position classified at Grade P, Entry Level under Council's current salary structure with a salary range based on qualifications and experience from $132,394.99 & $149,011.95, plus 12% statutory superannuation and a 70-hour 9-day fortnight. Conditions are in accordance with Local Government (State) Award 2023.
