Join our dynamic Finance Team at Berrigan Shire Council

Are you a seasoned accounting professional ready to make a meaningful impact in local government? Berrigan Shire Council is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our collaborative and forward-thinking Finance Team.

This is a 6-month contract position with the potential to transition into a full-time role for the right candidate.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Lead the preparation of Council's annual financial statements and statutory reports.
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Oversee internal controls, compliance, and audit processes.
  • Provide expert financial advice to senior management and Council.
  • Mentor and support junior finance staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

What You'll Need:

  • Tertiary qualification in accounting
  • Full membership or qualification for full membership of professional accounting body (CPA or CA)
  • Proven experience in financial management, preferably within local government or a similar environment.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.

This is a full-time position classified at Grade P, Entry Level under Council's current salary structure with a salary range based on qualifications and experience from $132,394.99 & $149,011.95, plus 12% statutory superannuation and a 70-hour 9-day fortnight. Conditions are in accordance with Local Government (State) Award 2023.
