PCYC is the leading WA youth organisation. We work with the WA Police Force, Community and Government Agencies to ensure that young people across WA reach their potential. This all happens from our 16 centres located from Albany in the South, to Kununurra in the North-West. Our safeSPACE program is the heart of our organisation.

safeSPACE is PCYCs early intervention program, aimed at supporting frontline policing priorities and preventing young people from becoming involved in the youth justice system and improving outcomes for those who do. safeSPACE delivers an integrated service offering, both universal and targeted programs to best support young people.

An exciting new opportunity has arisen to support the safeSPACE program at our Broome Centre as a Youth Engagement Officer and Youth Support Officer (YEO and YSO)

Position Overview:

The YEO and YSO will support the delivery of strong youth work support for at risk and vulnerable people referred into PCYC programs, whilst working to the corporate goal of improving communities through effective youth development.
The YEO and YSO will support PCYC staff to facilitate all aspects associated with service delivery, this includes supporting the planning, delivery and facilitating, monitoring and evaluation of programs and activities all within a safe and welcoming environment to ensure young people receive opportunities to reach their full potential.

About you:
  • Ability to communicate effectively with young people from diverse backgrounds, including their families.
  • Ability to work with Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander young people and have a good understanding of the issues facing First Nations people
  • Passionate about re-engaging young people through building positive professional relationships and utilising a strengths based, person centred, trauma aware, solutions focussed approach
  • Ability to work with young people experiencing a wide range of issues including but not limited to AOD, behavioural, mental health and assist in identifying appropriate referral pathways.
  • An understanding of youth work code of ethics
  • Possess or willing to obtain National Police Clearance, Working with Children and drivers licence
